The downpour lasted more than 30 hours non-stop and has resulted in loss of lives and property in the metropolis. Due to poor and blocked drainage and rivers overflowing their banks, many areas are submerged with cars, houses, property and people already displaced. Some roads have been rendered unusable while mobility has been impossible even as the Governor has declared a public holiday for schools. Already power supply has been cut off in most parts of the state. Pictures of submerged areas, houses and cars have flooded the internet on facebook and twitter especially and on blackberry messenger. It remains to be seen if Lagos can handle this much rain anymore or worse still, a double or tripple dose.
