MINIMUM WAGE STRIKE!

WEDNESDAY 20TH JULY, 2011

IS D-DAY!

Great Nigerian People!

The D-Day we have decided to commence the general nationwide strike for our Minimum Wage is Wednesday 20th July, 2011!

It is a Strike to force the Federal, State and Local Governments and Private Companies to pay the National Minimum Wage and the General Wage Review which by the Constitution and by law is our right.

We have to go on the 3-day warning Strike because:

·       The Federal Government wants to pay only a few workers and not majority workers the Minimum Wage.

·       The State Governments do not want to pay Minimum Wage. So they make illogical excuses like asking for more money from the Federation Account and asking that the prices of petrol should be increased.

·       The Local Governments claim that they are waiting for the State Governments to pay while the Private Sector says it is waiting for the Federal Government to pay.  They are playing workers around like football!

We have to go on strike from Wednesday July 20 – Friday July 22, 2011 if we are to get better salaries for ourselves, our immediate and extended families!  Do you know that N18,000 is a mere N600 per day? Can this feed a worker, the wife/husband, four children and other dependants?  Can it in addition, pay the rent, transportation, clothing, education and health of the Worker? It is a starvation wage, yet they refuse to pay.

IT IS A TOTAL

SHUT DOWN OF THE ENTIRE COUNTRY.

The NLC and TUC direct that from Wednesday 20th July 2011, all offices including public and private, airports and seaports banks and oil facilities should be shut down.

Anybody who opens any of these places is a saboteur and must be treated as such!

No Retreat!  No Surrender!!  Forward Ever!!! Backward Never!!!!
